PTOAGSD is an organization, or rather an "ongoing project" dedicated to raising money for German Shepherds in need of urgent rescue. These dogs are in high-kill shelters, and if not rescued or adopted within a certain (usually small) time period, they are killed. The "rescuers" do everything they possibly can to help them continue to live happy, long lives. This process can and usually does involve calling the shelters, convincing them to put the dogs on "hold", having someone evaulate the dogs or find a way to gain additional information, going and picking the dogs up, transporting them to new homes or no-kill rescues, fostering them, getting them medical care, the list goes on and on. Some rescues are relatively easy. Tell some people a dog is in danger, one of them is currently looking for a new dog, they go visit the dog, they like it, and they adopt it for a small fee. All the rescuers have to do is tell them about the dog. Other times, rescues are extremely difficult and emotional. Finding someone to visit the dog and find out if it has a good temperament, transporting it cross country to get it to a safe new home, organizing and funding the transport, and then funding any needed medical care that it needs. These rescuers involve huge amounts of commitment, time, energy, money, and understanding. It involves cooperation, and patience. And of course, many times, they cannot get the dogs out in time. The dogs die despite all of their efforts to help them. They do not get paid for this. They do not get any "Good Citizen Awards" or recognition for this. All they get is the comfort and rewarding feeling that they helped save a dog's life. That they helped give a dog a second chance. That is all they'll ever need to keep doing this.

PTOAGSD is dedicated to help them rescue the dogs. We specialize in funding the rescue of "unlucky" dogs. The old, sick, and abused ones. The ones that don't have that big of a chance to get out before death. The ones that have a heart of gold. The ones that are extremely friendly and loyal. But because they are 15 years old, or because they have mange, or because they have ugly burn marks on their body, they don't have that much of a chance. Even though they have so much love to give, your average person is going to skip them to adopt the cute puppy in the next cage. They have no voice, they cannot ask you to help them, they cannot promise you that they will deliver unconditional love. They can only sit, and wait. They can only lay in their cage, or in their run, on cold concrete floors, listening to the dogs around them howl and bark and whine, and wait. They know the feeling of having a human pay attention to them. They know the feeling of being loved. They long for it.

This is what we do. We help the rescuers rescue them. We help give them that chance to be loved. We help give them their life back and end that long wait. We help give them happiness.

We raise money by selling products to people. Specifically selling to people who own German Shepherds. We create many different things. Recently we created PTOAGSD t-shirts. We called them the 2005 edition. They included the headshot pictures of 50 German Shepherds, and the names of the dogs and their owners. We plan to do a 2006 edition as soon as we receive enough headshots. Check out the "How You Can Help" page for information on getting your German Shepherd on that. In addition to the products we make we can also make custom products for you. We will customize any product for you. We've had great success in making calendars, cards, shirts, etc for people in the past. Its quite simple. You let us know what product you want and what picture(s) or saying(s) you want on it, send us the pictures, and we make them and then send you the link for you to view the product. If you like it you can buy it, if you want something changed you simply let us know what that is and we change it. You can also send us donations.
